Little Man Link was once one of our projects in process. With the original house a wee 480 square feet, our client wanted an extra flex space to hang out, record music and entertain friends. This sweet lil quarter pint (250 square feet) accessory structure comes complete with soaring ceilings, tons of natural light, an LG art mini split for heating and cooling and a full bath with walk in shower.
With a terrific crew of framers on hand, this custom 250 square foot space was framed out in about 4 days. The only thing that held us up is mother nature, in the form of rain.
The wall to the right forms the full bath and small closet. The rest of the hip roof will be left open to give the main space a big feel.
We decided on a shou-sugi-ban cedar lap siding. to the uninitiated, shou-sugi-ban is an old Japanese technique of burning wood. the char layer on the surface protects the underlying wood by acting as a fire retardant and bug repellent. the char layer will never fade and its reported that even untreated, the wood will last upwards of 100 years. We fabricated the material ourselves and will give it a final clear coat to further protect it from the elements. Feel free to inquire about shou-sugi-ban fabrication for any projects you may have. We will soon have colors!
Our shou-sugi siding and windows are installed. now all we have to do is to pop in the doors and start the interior.
